Sunday, 9 April 2017

These sessions were determined by a survey of past attendees, so both are expected to be popular. Attend one or both to learn the detailed techniques behind many of the images seen on Saturday.

Creating Pleasing Blurs (time: 9 – 11 am)
This session will cover all the in-camera techniques that Denise uses to create her pleasingly blurred images of flowers, birds, and other subjects. Learn how to capture bird blast-offs and impressionistic flower images. She will also include a segment on Multiple Exposure Blurs. Many factors determine the degree of blur and these will all be covered in-depth during this program. This presentation builds on her hugely popular eBook co-authored with Arthur Morris. Denise’s brand new book  “A Guide to Creative Blurs” (Dec 2016), will be available to session attendees at a substantial discount. Consider the book detailed notes on the face-to-face session with Denise (1½ – 2 hr).

The Art of Flower Photography (time: noon to 2:30 pm) Advance sales only due to limited number of seats.
This session will demonstrate mostly in-camera techniques for capturing the beauty of flora in both pictorial and abstract styles, as seen during the Seminar the day before. Denise will cover composition, depth-of-field and selective focus, the use of extension tubes and reflectors, and the use of natural light. You will learn to create impressionistic flower blurs by using your camera as your paintbrush (2 to 2-1/2 hr).

Tickets: $45 for each session. Combine with a Saturday ticket for the same person and receive a discount of 10% on your entire purchase.

Location: Art Gallery of Burlington, 1333 Lakeshore Road, Burlington, ON L7S 1A9.

What to bring  to these sessions: There is no need to bring a camera as these are talk/demos, not workshops. Denise has e-books covering these topics, which she will make available to ticket holders at a discount. If you bring a device with a bright screen for taking notes, we’ll ask you to sit where no one behind you is bothered by it.

Lunch will not be served, but you are welcome to bring your own if attending both Sunday sessions. Please note that the AGB is nut-free. There is no cafe on site, but coffee and bottled drinks are available.
